Thornton United was formed in 2009 and since then has become one of the fastest growing clubs in the Bradford area.

In 2009 Thornton United had one adult team playing in Division 2B in the Bradford Sunday Alliance. That season that team went on to win the League being undefeated and also won the Bradford District Cup beating Mailcoach 6-0. The next season saw Thornton United clinch the Division 1A title and after that promotion from the first division to the Premier League. In 2012 the club entered a new chapter entering the FA Sunday Cup which is a national competition whic saw them reach the second round. With the club ever exapnding a reserve team was entered into the league in 2011.

In 2012 the birth of the junior club came from a conversation on the night the First Team was celebrating there promotion to the Premier League. With the lack of junior football in the area of Thornton, creating junior football teams was always something the football club wanted to do. We decided to trial on having one team for the 2012-13 season where we took over a team that was going to fold called Horton Foxes Under 13’s which was full of local players. That ignited the villages passion for football and a steam roll affect ended up with the club entering 5 new age groups into the Craven Aire & Wharfe League.

Since the start of the league we have also introduced 4 new teams for the upcoming 2013-14 season and the club has now achieved Charter Standard Recognition from the Football Assocaition.
